Where to look for Secret Santa gifts and inspiration?
Three simple rules to keep in mind
Types of gifts to think about

It is the time of the year when the office is getting decorated and the Christmas spirit is sneaking in, relaxing the mood and giving us the will to do the final leg of work before the holiday break. For some people who have to work through the holidays, feeling the festive atmosphere at work may be the only way they get to experience the fun. Especially in Dubai, many people are living apart from their families and closest friends so the co-workers sometimes become a second family.
One of the most popular Christmas activities, closely competing with the office Christmas party, is the Secret Santa! You probably have your office bestie or besties that you enjoy spending time criticizing your boss with, but the Secret Santa is a lottery and the chances are, maybe you'll have to pick something for someone you don't know that well. And as much as you'd like to receive a cute little something that's not a coupon for the mall, so does the next person. Therefore, why not make it more fun and personal, gather up your inner Christmas spirit and be a good Santa to someone!
So, what do you do? Well, you start by reading this blog and then off you go!
Where to look for Secret Santa gifts and inspiration?

Well, besides reading this blog, I'd suggest to save your time and don't go to a mall. The malls are quite busy these days and the stress of it may ruin your experience. Instead, go to a Christmas market over the weekend. It is the season to go out and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. While looking for the gift you will have fun and probably reward yourself with a tasty treat too. One more reason why I am suggesting the Christmas markets is the large choice of unique, handmade and thoughtful gifts that you can find there. Shopping from small businesses and supporting them means there is a third person that you will make happy with your small gift, besides the recipient, of course, and yourself, with the joy that is to see your gift well received. If nothing inspiring pops up at the market, you can always extend your search online.
Before we continue to the gift suggestions...
Three simple rules to keep in mind

1. No naughty gifts. Take caution when choosing the gift to make sure it's not inappropriate. Keep in mind that the gifts are opened in front of everyone so make sure no one is offended by it. If it is a spicy joke between you and your work bestie, maybe don't risk a Christmas chat with HR because of it.
2. Don't overspend. You might make someone feel uncomfortable that they weren't able to spend as much money on their Secret Santa as you were. Sticking to the spending limit is the top etiquette rule you should follow.
3. Never reveal your identity. That takes away the magic of the game!
Types of gifts to think about
1. Activity - Museum tickets - for those who are creative souls, jigsaw puzzle - to keep their mind off things if they always overthink and worry about work, trivia game - for the socialites, DIY kit - for a small fun project for the crafty ones, for example a Lego car model of their own car, a small gardening tool set for the one that keeps saying they need to work on their balcony garden, or a fun cookie cutter for the baker.

2. Functional gifts - Mugs, but hear me out - do a bit of a research and find a funny mug, one that will cheer them up every time they pick it up. Blue light blocking glasses - this one will show that you care and will be very helpful for them during the long working days. Bottle stopper- for those promising to have a well behaved dry January. A set of coasters - whether they may be Christmas themed or funny would be useful to everyone and I'm sure they'll be appreciated. The markets have a lot of creative ones done by local artists that will get your attention.

3. Wellness gifts - Bath or shower bombs, festive scented candles or handmade organic soaps can all be nice pampering treats that anyone can use. I'd add to this list couple of items that I believe also fall in this category. A nice book, hot chocolate bomb or a therapy dough for relieving stress.
